On April 12-14, 2011 the BKCASE team of authors held their sixth workshop in Los Angeles, CA at the University of Southern California.  Barry Boehm with the help of Julie Sanchez graciously hosted the group of 35 attendees.

The workshop's main agenda items included an overview of the SEBoK v.5 individual Part progress, a  discussion about resolving residual review feedback issues from the SEBoK v.25, arrive to consensus on the SEBoK v.5 way ahead and its usage and publication in a wiki environment, agreement on implementing the SEBoK v.5 terminology and references, discuss global issues highlighted in the GRCSE v.25 review feedback, a review of the BKCASE staffing, refinement of the the topic level outlines in SEBoK v.5, and material drafting by the SEBoK individual Part and GRCSE teams.

All agenda objectives were satisfied during the three day workshop.  The workshop held two full day plenary sessions on days one and two to tackle the major discussion points for both the SEBoK and GRCSE. The third day was devoted to an early morning wrap up session that consisted of a brief on the intellectual property usage and community outreach.  Following the wrap-up authors and core team members broke into their working groups for face to face interaction and drafting of materials.

A detailed set of meeting minutes are documented in the workshop's final report.  The report provides  general information, proceedings divided by the major topics for SEBoK and GRCSE, the way ahead (BKCASE activities), and appendices (staffing, attendees, wiki sample).  All slide decks for presentations over the three day period are available on the BKCASE Workshop webpage.

BKCASE Workshop VII is the next meeting closed to the author and core team members.  The workshop will be held for three days in Denver, CO on June 14-16.  If you are a BKCASE author interested in attending, please contact the workshop coordinator Beola Lenard for more information.
