Body of Knowledge and Curriculum to Advance Systems Engineering

Coming to a Virtual Bookcase Near You in 2012

"Systems engineering competency models, certification programs, textbooks, graduate programs, and related workforce development initiatives around the world align with BKCASE." - The BKCASE Vision

Welcome to the BKCASE website.  This site is intended to provide the public with information pertaining to the BKCASE mission and to serve as a project support tool for all BKCASE participants and advocates from around the world.

What is BKCASE?

BKCASE (pronounced "Bookcase") is the acronym for the Body of Knowledge and Curriculum to Advance Systems Engineering.  The BKCASE project is led by a university partnership between the Stevens Institute of Technology and the Naval Postgraduate School.  The project scope is to define a Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge ( SEBoK) and use the SEBoK to develop an Advanced Graduate Reference Curriculum for Systems Engineering (GRCSE, pronounced "Gracie").

The ideal outcome is that the SEBoK will be supported worldwide by the Systems Engineering community as the authoritative BoK for the SE discipline and that the GRCSE will receive the same global recognition and serve as the authoritative guidance for graduate degree programs in SE.  A leading group of systems engineers from across the world will volunteer as authors and reviewers on the project to collaborate over a three year period and deliver two quality products, the SEBoK and GRCSE, to the public in 2012.

The BKCASE team invites you to learn more about our project.  Information can be easily accessed by perusing the various sections of our site that is frequently monitored and updated as needed.  Over time we hope to gain support for our efforts from systems engineering practitioners, educators, and current and potential graduate students from within the US and abroad.  We encourage and welcome the SE engineering community to forward us your feedback about our project efforts.  You may do this by contacting our project team leaders at bkcase@stevens.edu.
